Ok so I lost my mind during March, maybe several times. It’s been an odd time for me – everything’s ok in general, but I’m not feeling normal… I’ve done almost nothing abut gardening which is SO UNLIKE ME. SOmething’s up, but I dunno what it is.
There is almost no knitting getting done, so I thought I’d share a sewing project I did quite some time ago.
I first heard of this book on my favorite podcast, Jane & Jen Knit Funny. Thought I’d give it a whirl as an audiobook. Chris Hardwick is a comic/podcast host that I enjoy only occasionally, but I figured the audiobook might be more engaging than the physical book – plus I had a credit.
I think this book is GENIUS. Hardwick has found several ways to see aspects of himself -that he’s been seriously teased about- as positive, and use that to change his life. He genuinely wants to share his learning with you. He’s very enthusiastic – sometimes annoyingly so – but he’s NEVER preachy. He is often funny and self-deprecating. If yer a nerd, you should read this. I definitely recommend the audiobook.
Ok, so now I know that life has gone completely SCREWY but in this particular case – in a benign way…..
Think back to yesterday – remember how I won a book & 4 patterns?
Well, yester evening, I got an email telling me I had won the same book on Nancy Zieman’s blog!
Friends & neighbors, this might happen to others but it just does NOT happen to me!
I mean….come on….. I was born on Friday the 13th after all…Lady Luck & I have a rather distant relationship. Wow.
So I guess the Universe is telling me to get SEWING. And I will….but I promise it won’t take over dis here blog.
After marveling at this truly unexpected and wonderfully weird happening for a bit,
I wrote back to the lovely Lois, who manages this kind of thing for Nancy’s blog (I love it that Nancy Zieman – the most unlikely tv star ever- has ‘people’), explaining that I am indeed grateful for being chosen and thank you, yet I humbly request that someone else be chosen to receive it. Lois wrote back and said that they would do exactly that.
So last week while I had “the plague lite” – the nearly-pneumonia upper respiratory thing so many have had this winter and early spring, I was enjoying reading Nancy Zieman’s blog tour promoting her new book. I got to read some new blogs that I like very much and I put a comment with my name on 2 or 3 of the blogs hoping to win a book or pattern or something – but I don’t often win things. So I was shocked to my toenails when I got an email saying I had won!
Now NONE of these patterns actually come in my size so I will be upsizing them but I have to make changes to EVERY pattern that I have so no big deal. 🙂 I was planning to get the book & all 4 patterns anyway, so I’m delighted that I will get them for no $ – Studmuffin will be happy when I tell him. Trust me – he will!
I promise that I will use them -yup, actually SEW them & not just buy lovely fabric- and write about them. I can hardly wait!!
I wish I knew how to take super pictures like some other bloggers I know. Oh wellll…. just a couple more pictures:
The last few weeks before I finished it – I took this all over the place with most of it stuffed into an old pillowcase to keep it clean. Finishing it felt wonderful and now I know I can do pretty much anything knitted; I am no longer daunted by size. Plus Mom loves it. WIN!
